Modular Automatic Cathodic Protection Unit With Digital Control
|
Features:
Freeman Industries, Inc. provides superb cathodic protection systems for Water Storage Tanks. Our MACPU® Digital brings cathodic protection for water tanks and water treatment facilities into the Digital Age.
Overview: Since 1980 the MACPU® has been the premier cathodic protection rectifier for the protection of water tanks. The system and its operation were protected by U.S Patents Nos. 4,255,242 and 4,437,957. The first system was put into service in 1980 and is still operating. The MACPU® Digital brings all of the features of the original MACPU® into the digital age.
Enclosure: The enclosure for the MACPU® Digital is a sealed stainless steel (NEMA 4X) cabinet. It measures 20”h X 16”W X 10”d. It has a cabinet door window to allow monitoring without opening cabinet. The cabinets are sealed with neoprene gaskets and can be provided with a locking mechanism.
Front Panel: The digital display, circuit breaker, and USB port are located on the front panel. The Digital Rectifier Controller (DRC) and the current shunt panel are mounted to the back side of the front panel.
Back Panel: The DC power supply or supplies, surge protectors, and the terminal strips are located on the back panel. Din rails are used for ease of mounting the terminals and power supplies.
Digital Rectifier Controller (DRC): The heart of the MACPU® Digital is the Digital Rectifier Controller (DRC). It receives inputs from the reference cells, DC power supplies, and current shunts, and produces current outputs to the various anode circuits to provide precise cathodic protection control. It is also equipped with numerous expansion and communication ports.
Digital Display: The digital display provides system operational information through a series of sequential screen displays. The information screens depend on the number of circuits being used. Some examples are shown below:
Anode Systems: Depending on the cathodic protection needs of the structure, Freeman Industries, Inc. designs and manufactures a variety of anode systems. Most anode systems are designed for a 10 to 20 year life.
Reference Cells: Freeman Industries, Inc, manufactures reference cells to monitor the corrosion condition of the submerged steel surfaces. The reference cell potential is monitored by the rectifier. The rectifier then adjusts its output to regulate the reference cell potential to the desired value to prevent corrosion from occurring.
